Water Quality Control Division (WQCD)


The Colorado Water Quality Control Division regulates the discharge of pollutants into the state's surface and ground waters and enforces the Colorado Primary Drinking Water Regulations.

The Colorado Source Water Assessment and Protection Program (SWAP) is designed to provide information and promote public involvement in protecting the quality of our drinking water supplies. The program encourages community-based protection and preventive management strategies to ensure that all public drinking water resources are kept safe from future contamination.

EPA leads the nation's environmental science, research, education and assessment efforts. The mission of the Environmental Protection Agency is to protect human health and the environment.

EPA's Region 8 office in Denver works to protect human health and the environment in Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming and 27 sovereign tribal nations.
