Stakeholder Involvement

The success of Source Water Protection projects depends greatly upon public participation in formulating protection plans.  Ideally, the public would be knowledgable about potential environmental threats and would team up with other interested parties to produce an up-to-date and effective protection plan.  Broad participation by interested parties also improves allocation of support from local governmental agencies responsible for implementation of protection activities.  After the formation of a multi-faceted team, the Water Quality Control Division (WQCD) recommends that a Steering Committee be formed to gather input from all affiliated parties and produce a collaborative source water protection and implementation plan.
